Our president, John
Saxon, is away in New Zealand enjoying a well earned break. So I will
not presume even to usurp his private space in the top left corner. As acting president
for three weeks I can really only comment on events with which I am
familiar, not the deeply involved negotiations, consultations and
agreements that are John's burden.
So, we had a visit to
Coffee and Chat on 1st March by representatives from the the
Microsoft Unlimited Potential programme and the Smith Family, who are
foundation partners and are actually managing the programme. We saw
some of the training material they have already provided us. It is very
good quality and will be invaluable to our getting training courses
under way in the new premises in Holder. I can see a very productive
partnership developing out of our relationship with this group.
We are
officially vacating
the PCUG premises in Belconnen on 31st March, and will sign a
lease for the Holder premises from 1st April. That means we have a busy
schedule of moving equipment and restoring the premises by this date. I
expect that we will be calling for volunteers to help, so please try to
assist if you are called on. A bigger consideration will be staffing
the Holder premises. Obviously it will not be convenient for those
staffers who live locally and looked after the Belconnen office to
transit southside. This will be an opportunity for southsiders to
participate, and I am sure the response will be favourable when the
call goes out. To those volunteers who have held the fort at Belconnen
-
Anton, Graeme, Peter, Ross, Bryant and Diana – we say thank you all
very much
for your support for the group. It has been very much appreciated.
Have
a good month - Terry
