This script will create a drop-down menu with 5 different text effects. They
are Chrome, Glass, GlassCut, Graffiti, and Zombie.
After you choose an effect, a font browser will let you input some text and
choose a font of your choice. It will then create the text for you.

Just what do you mean by "insert"? Could you explain or point to an example?
Making a new image is well explained in Help > Contents > Creating Images. Is that what you want for a new image?
Open the image to be inserted. Note its dimension in pixels, given by Image > Image Information. Copy this image to the clipboard with Edit > Copy.
Create a new image at least as large (in pixels) as the one you will insert. Now you have several choices for inserting, presented on the Edit > Paste menu. The relevant ones here are Paste as New Layer, Paste as New Selection, and Paste as Transparent Selection. Look these up in Help > Contents > Editing Images > Cutting, Copying, and Pasting. Experiment and write back if you get stuck.
