Report from the President
Another reminder
that the Annual General Meeting will be held on the first Tuesday of
October, and now is the time to think of what YOU can do for the group,
remembering the "Users Helping Users" aspect.
Membership of
the committee involves attendance at committee meetings (currently one
per month for a maximum of two and a half hours - 6:30PM to 9:00PM) and
usually some other input as a volunteer.
I you are not a committee type, there are several other roles you can undertake to help your fellow members. These include:
- training manager to organize trainers from within the group to make use of our new training room setup
- trainer to pass on knowledge to fellow members - you do not have
to be a trained teacher, and we have access to a lot of material
from Microsoft for trainers
- web designer to look after re-design and maintenance of the PCUG web site
- office volunteer to look after the office when our sole staff
member, the Office Manager, is not on duty. We particularly need
members who can look after the Centre at weekends
- main meeting assistant to help the meetings organizer with handing out lucky door prize tickets, serving coffee, etc.
If you can help the group in any way, please contact any member of the current committee.
As this article
was being prepared, I received news of the passing of former committee
member and dedicated volunteer, John Hodge.
John was a member of the committee in 2003-04 and was heavily involved
in setting up the multimedia centre and tutoring other members in its
use. He will be missed by all who knew him.
