I also wasn't sure quite how to classify gparted since I don't believe there has ever been a live cd on the Priceless Ware List in the past.

One of the things I really like about the graphical interface in gparted is that it displays the used space in each partition for you. If you have a hard disc and want to cut it in half so you can experiment with another OS or so you can store your critical files in a partition different than the windows "home" partition, you can see how much space has already been taken up by windows (or whatever). You can see what I mean by looking at the screenshots on the gparted website:
