When
the rain finally drizzled off elsewhere... my little buddies all came
out to play. Including a hummer at the feeder when I didn't have the
camera out. Here is the largest Salticidae (jumping spider) than I've seen yet:
Straightened, cropped, resized, DCNR sharpen 0-85-25 in PSP X.

Same
shot, just cropped, no resizing or straightening, DCNR sharpen 0-75-20
in PSP X. Photo taken with EVolt E-510 and Sigma 105mm Macro lens
in full autofocus at 1:1 (lifesize) magnification. In 35mm terms,
that's twice lifesize with this camera.
Oh,
they're actually pretty small. I'd say roughly the size of your
pinky finger nail. You don't see all that furriness with just your
eyes.

And no, they don't blink. Ever. :-)

Number two:
Good shots McG. It's a Marpissa muscosa female. We have the same species over here too. Orange - Netherlands
She is particularly inquisitive and exploratory, Sago! In plain words, she gets around and into everything. She started out on the porch floor, eyeing everything, then suddenly is on the top of back of a chair, then next thing I know, way up on the side of the hummingbird feeder bottle chasing ants ...well... it was just a perfect opportunity for a nice portrait.
