Computers
In this Site the Intel Corporation have introduced a series of brief articles dealing with the purchase of your next PC, they show that there are some choices you must make concerning the size and capability of several key parts The site is divided into six parts: A smart guide, The processor; Storage, Memory, Communications, and software performance. In simple language, without hype, it illustrates the requirements for word processing, personal finance, designing graphics, 3D audio, Video, 3D graphics, Email, Chat and Multi-player games. It emphasis that a PC with a fast processor and lots of memory isn’t enough to get cutting edge performance. You also need a fast modem. For the large graphic files commonly found on the World Wide Web they say ‘14.4kbs is considered necessary and 28.8 Kbs is preferable’ and that ‘You needn’t hold out for next year’s model’ because 28.8 Kbs is considered the upper speed limit for regular phone lines. The site also addresses ISDN and DSVD. The Intel Corporation are the manufacturer of the Pentium Pro Processor.

I am a great believer in first using local sites and recommended Alta-Vista in the last issue since it has established an Australian Site. The Australian Search Engine Web Wombat is another neat local site. It provides Australian News Headlines, Weather, Classifieds which are free, Online Newspapers (900 to browse) Online Magazines (Browse by category) and also provides articles on computing, Job Agencies, Lotto Results, Site Stats and Travel. Well worth a bookmark.

Provides global resources for PC bugs, glitches, incompatibilities and fixes (some of the services are by subscription) including, a net alert, bug/fix lists, freebies and BugNet Buzz section which is part bug/fix discussion group, part searchable data base of bug reports, and part “Commanche war cry, to loosely paraphrase Samuel Clemens.” With Buzz you can quickly determine what products are causing grief at the moment. This part of the site introduces you to raw, up-to-the minute bug/fix product data.

Four 11 is a great way to search for someone on the Internet. They have Directories for E-mail, Telephone, Netphone, Government and Celebrity. They offer you a Free listing . I suspect you could be bombarded with E-mail if you add your listing. It is well worth a look and they offer a free download of Netphone Software.
