Games For Seniors

I live in a seniors building and they host a monthly dinner and a luncheon to get the old folks out of their apartments. A lot of them confuse the time and will get to the auditorium up to an hour early, so I'd like to give them something to do with their time and their minds.

I've seen puzzles/games that are a grid of letters, with a list of words underneath. The object is to find the word in the grid of letters. It may run left/right, right/left, top/bottom, bottom/top, oblique left/right, etc., etc.

I've spent hours trying to find a computer game/puzzle where it would create the puzzle and print it out with the word list. We could put one of these with a pencil at each place setting and keep them busy.

I haven't been able to find anything like this, but it would probably help if I knew what these puzzles/games are called.

Hi Lee. I played around a bit with various Google searches. . .

Results for puzzle "word search". The first hit does just what you want. It's Webware:

(The "solution" button doesn't seem to do anything - I was expecting it to highlight the words.)

This search produced some interesting links too.

About 35,300 for jumbles puzzle.
