PSP Frames and Borders
I have PSP 10.
I'm looking to put different edging effects just around the outside of my
pics -- not all over the pic like in the effects and edging I have found in so
far?
Is there any way I can just put edges around the border of the pic?
And also, is there any way I can change filters or focus softness on the
entire picture -- ie soft focus or coloured filters onto the entire image?
There are so many options. For example, you can use Image > Add Borders one or moretimes to add bands of color around the edge of your image. You can use Image > Picture Frame to add frames to your images. You can use Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask From Disk to make theimage transparent in various regular and irregular ways around itsedge. I don't know what masks come with PSP X but there are plentyto download. You can search the Scripting newsgroup for variousscripts that apply edging or framing effects to an image. Also,
you can review the various tutorials on framing effects here:http://www.psplinks.com/content/Framing_Effects.htmlThere are addition framing effects based on masks and selectionsyou can download, which are listed here:http://www.psplinks.com/content/Masks_and_Selections_Downloads.htmlThese are just a few things to get you started. > not all over the pic like in effects and edging i have found in psp so far
When I apply effects to the edges of an image I don't get them "all
over the pic". I don't know why you do. Since you have chosen to
keep exactly what you are doing a secret I can't be more specific.
In general the selection is the thing in PSP that you use to
restrict some change to only part of an image. If I had some idea
of what was going on I could probably suggest the best way to use
a selection.

Many. I have listed some of them above.

Filters always work on the entire image unless you constrain their
action to a portion of the image using a selection. As a result it
is very hard to understand what you mean since "on the entire
picture" is how filters behave unless you take special steps to
stop that happening.
> Many thaks for any feed back
Thak is an Old English word for thatch. I'm not sure how it applies
here. I'm sorry about that, but I'm just a stupid vegetable.
