The next Main Monthly Meeting will be held on Tuesday 6th September 2005 commencing at 7:30 pm in the Haydon Allen Tank, near the Haydon Allen Building, Australian National University, Acton. Please note the changed location for this meeting only. View the ANU map showing the location of the Haydon Allen Tank (facility 23), near the Haydon Allen Building. It is fairly close to the usual monthly meeting venue (Manning Clark Centre).

The monthly meetings are free. Members, friends and the public are invited to attend. Don’t rush home after the meeting! Stay for coffee, tea, biscuits and good company. It’s all free! Renew acquaintances, meet new people and ask those questions you didn’t get a chance to ask at the meeting! Membership inquiries and renewals are welcomed too! Email inquiries to pcug.mmm@pcug.org.au or phone 02-6287-2922.

FREE SOFTWARE – FROM A to Z

This month, well known PCUG member, Terry Bibo, will review a range of useful software programs which are free and easily available from the Internet. Items range from antivirus programs to file encryption utilities, and reflect Terry’s personal desire to have a minimum number of programs to handle a maximum number of tasks. With 18 primary programs, some of which will refer to similar programs in the same category, the reviews will be introductory rather than in-depth. However, Terry will be happy to elaborate and answer questions after the presentation. Terry will provide URLs (Internet webpage addresses) for all items reviewed, but you may like to bring along a PDA or a notepad to make notes of program features you find particularly pertinent to your needs.

Members should also note that audio recordings of monthly meetings are now available. Please contact the PCUG Centre at Holder for details (6287-2922 or fax 6287-2933).
