The last time we looked at digital imaging
was in June 2005.
In the world of computing technology 2
½ years is a very long time and since then there have been many
changes.
Wednesday 6 February 2008
7:00pm for a 7:30pm start
Jeff runs the
digital imaging Special Interest Group and takes care of the dedicated
imaging equipmentinstalled at our Holder office for use by members. He
is Vice-President on the PCUGCommittee and is an active, all-round
member. You are sure to be informed and entertained this evening.
Jeff will
introduce and lead a discussion on a selection of “advanced” procedures
for enhancing the quality of digital images obtained by camera or
scanner for display on screen
or print, using
tools provided in Corel Paint Shop Pro XI. Corresponding tools are
provided in the Adobe range of Photoshop and many also in programs
provided free with cameras, printers and scanners and new Microsoft
services included in Windows Vista. Examples will be based on the
experiences of our Digital Imaging Special Interest Group and from
recent tutorials on the regeneration of images from damaged and faded
photographs.
Jeff will also
touch on some of the mindsets that produce misunderstandings about
digital imaging as a consequence of years of conditioning with film
cameras and darkroom procedures.
There is always time for your
questions during the presentation. After the meeting you are welcome to
discuss your ‘in-depth’ questions on the topic with the presenter over
a cuppa and biscuit or to meet any of the Committee. The meeting is
free and open to the public with plenty of seating so feel free to
invite a friend or colleague.
Entry to the
Rheinberger Centre is via Loch Street on the corner of Weston
Street Yarralumla. The centre has well lit grounds, easy access to the
conference room with off street parking.
